The square called by the Patriarchal Ponds, is one of the most known
places of Moscow, it was immortalised in the novel "by the Master and Margarita"
Michael Bulgakov. The patriarchal ponds have endured recently the big
reconstruction in which course was the monument to I.A.Krylov is established. On
this monument the fabulist is in an environment of the revived characters of the
fables. During the same time for the patriarchal ponds the children's playground
has been constructed. The pond has been cleared of dust and in it have started
fish. Now in a pond there live some ducks and two fine white swans. During
reconstruction were ukrepreny coast and ustanovoena a new fencing. Paths with
new benches began to be shined with lanterns in style of a XIX-th century. In
1986 at a pond the new pavilion which architecture has been sustained in old
style has been constructed. At building new pavilnoa such decorative elements,
as a stucco moulding and reliefs have been used. By the way, modules of old
pavilion which decorated square since 1938 have been used also. The patriarchal
pond has received the name thanks to patriarch Ioakimu who has chosen this place
for the residence so there was the Patriarchal Large village. There was this
remarkable event in a far 16 century. Before on a place of the patriarchal ponds
the goat bog settled down. We will notice that at first was three patriarchal
ponds, but only one of them up to now has reached. Most easier to reach the
Patriarchal ponds from metro station Majakovsky or Barrikadnaja.
